We would like to invite you to take part in our pilot of group menopause consultations led by menopause healthcare professionals. A pilot means we are testing this service before launching it to the public. Participation is at no cost and all we ask is for your feedback so we can improve it before we launch (full price will be £15/wk for 12 weeks).

Before you decide, it is important that you understand what participation means. Please take time to read this information and discuss it with others if you wish. If there is anything that is not clear, or you would like more information, please email us at fernanda@bia.care.

Participation in this pilot is entirely voluntary.

What is the purpose of the pilot?

The purpose of our pilot is to see whether women experiencing menopausal symptoms will find groups a helpful way to have their menopause questions answered, and encourage a better understanding of treatment options, including development of a personalised menopause treatment plan.

Why have I been invited?

You have been invited because you are experiencing menopause symptoms and could benefit from having your questions answered by a menopause healthcare professional and developing a Participation is entirely voluntary and you can withdraw at anytime.

What topics will be covered?

The main aim is to improve your knowledge of menopause and treatments, giving you confidence to take control of your symptoms. The menopause experts will be covering topics including:

Will HRT be prescribed and what should I consider? :

There are over 25 types of different HRT, including tablets, gels, patches, and vaginal creams or pessaries. Most women will have one type of HRT that is suitable for their personal circumstances.

You are eligible for this pilot whether or not you are on HRT. If you are interested in receiving a prescription, you will be able to discuss it with our GP and receive a private prescription if you are eligible and interested.

Who will be the doctor I see?

Your doctor will be Dr. Deena El-Shirbiny (GMC: 6079898). She is a GP with a special interest in women’s health and menopause. Fun fact: she actually authored the textbook that GPs use to revise for their Women’s Health exams.
